SUNY Oswego enrolls around 8,000 students, some 7,000 of them full-time undergraduates. Around 4,400 students live on campus among the college's 13 residence halls and communities. The more than 200 clubs and organizations and 24 Division III sports teams provide many outlets for student involvement. Overall, Oswego's lakeside campus stretches for almost 700 acres and includes 76 buildings.
Nearly 1,500 freshmen, with a mean high school grade average of 90, enrolled in fall 2017. Around 200 Presidential Scholars with a mean high-school grade average of 95 received this top award; an additional 865 more first-year students received Deans', Merit or Transfer Merit scholarships. Around 750 transfer students, with an average GPA of 3.0, chose Oswego to pursue their bachelor's degrees.
